PEMRA bans TV serial Jalan

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA)  banned the broadcasting of Pakistani drama serial Jalan. The statement by the authorities came out on Thursday, stating the ban on the drama. The declaration further stated that the regulatory body issued continuous alerts against the production.

However, they were already told to emend the show’s content, although no adjustments was being made and thus the channel refused to comply, therefore the TV serial is now banned under Section 27 of the PEMRA Ordinance. According to the authorities the action has been taken due to drama’s content, which was violating religious and social values.

Several warnings were already sent to the production, but none were taken seriously. The drama was already in under immense criticism because of its controversial content. The drama was featuring Minal Khan, Areeba Habib and Emaad Irfani in starring roles, Jalan’s core concept is an unorthodox love triangle in which the sister-in- law loves her brother-in – law!

The drama was incorporating such aspects as envy and extramarital affairs. Which have hurt sentimental values of many people.
