An incident reported from the other side of the boarder as the broken glacier hit the dam particularly known as the Rishiganga Hydroelectric Project causing very large amount of water to flood the nearby Dhauliganga river valley. The flow was so massive, intense and sudden that it destroyed everything that came in its way. This flood caused a lot of damage to the local people living there. According to estimation around 150 people are missing while three dead bodies have been found on the river bed.

Most of them who are being reported missing were on the Tapovan power plant, another dam located near Rishiganga who got hit. It is feared that more than 50 people who were working on the Rishiganga Hydroelectric Project are dead. The local authority also reported that at least 16 to 17 people are stucked inside a tunnel at the complex that was filled with wreckage. Emergency teams are working to get them out of there.

This flood was so massive that it swept away bridges and roads in the blink of an eye. The authorities weren’t even prepared for this. But after this massive destruction they took action and cleared the nearby villages. They even cleared the two dams in order to stop the water to enter into the Rishikesh and Haridwar towns. People are further restricted to not go near the banks or rivers.
