Government of Punjab gave orders to authorities to insure the absolute prohibition of kite flying

In sight of the Basant season coming on February 16 this year, the Government of Punjab has gave orders to the relevant authorities to insure the absolute prohibition of kite flying across the region. The notification issued by the Punjab Home Department stated that the ban is now to be firmly upheld.

The notice further mentioned that if the directions given were not followed, strict steps would be taken. The ban also implies to the manufacturer and seller of the kites as well.

Officials, including IGP Punjab, all divisional commissioners, Lahore CCPO as well as others, were instructed to abide by the instructions in effort to stop any situation from happening absurdly.

The festival was outlawed by the Punjab government through a statement issued in 2007 after festival-related accidents and deaths.
