Ingredients
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Kosher salt
  • 6 ounces milk chocolate, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Marshmallows or whipped cream, for topping
Instructions
  1. Combine the milk, heavy cream, sugar, cocoa powder and a pinch of salt in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, whisking occasionally, until the sugar and cocoa powder dissolve and the milk is steaming; do not boil.
  2. Whisk in half of the chopped chocolate until melted, then whisk in the remaining chocolate until smooth. Remove from the heat and whisk in the vanilla. Pour into mugs and top with marshmallows or whipped cream.

Ingredients
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 12 oz dark chocolate
  • Whipped cream
Instructions
  1. Add milk, powdered sugar and heavy cream to a saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until simmering, being careful not to scald or boil.
  2. While the milk mixture is heating, chop the dark chocolate. (For best flavor, use a good quality chocolate that’s at least 60 – 70% cacao.)
  3. Once simmering and heated thoroughly, remove from the heat and add the chopped chocolate to the saucepan.
  4. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Pour into small mugs and serve immediately with whipped cream and a little extra chopped chocolate on top.
